Dear Chapter Members,

As we celebrate the success of the Launch of our first ever Strategic Plan 2018-2020, I want to thank our dedicated Strategic Plan (SPL) Steering Committee/Team led by the Project Manager David Kang’ara for the excellent job they did during the planning and eventual launch. The Team, made up by volunteers from all areas, worked tirelessly to put together this amazing event and I am very proud of them. If you missed the event, check on our Social Media Channels for a short video clip that gives a good summary.

You may have noted that we have increased our Team with Volunteers, who work under the Board Members in their respective areas. Most of them were actively involved in the preparations for the event, others have been working in the background to enable us to serve you better. Am also happy to let you know that finally we have a new comprehensive mailing list with better functionality, courtesy of the Membership Team under Rose Kananu’s Lead.

Allow me to share the expanded Organization Structure in the next couple of days.

As a PMI Kenya Chapter Volunteer, you can earn PDUs for giving back to the local PMI community. We will be advertising more positions through the Volunteer Resource Management System (VRMS). If you are interested in volunteering, please ensure you update your profile on www.pmi.org and indicate the areas you are interested in. Then you will receive information on open volunteering positions automatically in your inbox.

We are also going to introduce new Director Positions for more experienced volunteers, who will work directly under the President and the various VPs to help them in specific areas of the relevant volunteer responsibilities. Keep your eyes open for the announcements in the VRMS.

We will also want to introduce a change in the Presidential elections, to allow for a longer hand-over period, and thus ensuring that the incoming President will have ample time to familiarize himself / herself with the upcoming role. This is in line with guidelines from PMI Global and will ensure that the incoming President not only is familiar with the role but also with the resources and guidelines available to them from PMI Global.

We will be suggesting some changes to the Chapter By-laws to ensure we are ready for the Growth expected. In line with the provisions in the Kenyan Societies Act and the PMI Kenya Chapter By-laws, you will be able to comment on the suggested changes before they are implemented. Keep a look-out for emails and information in this regard.

Meanwhile we are proud to say 20 PMI Kenya Chapter Members attended the last month's PMI Africa Conference in Mauritius 9-11 September. We are proud to report to you that PMI Kenya Chapter has been nominated to host the PMI Africa Conference next year (2019) which hopefully will be in Mombasa.
